Project Update
Following the tender procedure Irish Water signed a contract with Response Group / Ward & Burke Construction Ltd Joint Venture on the 22nd August 2014 in the sum of €4.1 million to complete the Ennis Main Drainage - Clonroadmore WWTP Upgrade Phase 1.
Works commenced on the site at the end of September 2014 and are due for completion in quarter one 2016.
Works at the Francis Street Pumping Station are due to commence mid October 2014 and at the Tulla Road (Fergus Lawn) Pumping Station in mid November 2014.
Project Information
Clare County Council is the Water Services Authority for County Clare. The Council is responsible for the provision of water and wastewater treatment throughout the county. Clare County Council proposes to upgrade the waste water treatment plant for Ennis at Clonroadmore.
In accordance with Section 37E of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as inserted by Section 3 of the Planning and Development (Strategic Infrastructure) Act 2006 Clare County Council has made an application to An Bord Pleanála for permission to upgrade the wastewater treatment plant.

An application for Planning Permission was lodged with An Bord Pleanála on 31st January 2011. The public consultation period is from the 4th February 2011 to 28th March 2011. Submissions in respect to this proposal, accompanied by a fee of €50, should be made to An Bord Pleanála at 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1. Final date for submissions to the Offices of An Bord Pleanála is 5:30 p.m. on Monday, 28th March 2011.
An Bord Pleanála issued a Request for Further Information to Clare County Council in relation to this project on the 17th May 2011. A response to this further information request was submitted to An Bord Pleanála on the 13th June 2011.
An Bord Pleanála advised Clare County Council by letter dated 13th July 2011 that an oral hearing would be held on the 28th July 2011 at 10:00 a.m. in the West County Hotel.
Clare County Council has received a Grant of Permission on the 8th November 2011 for the upgrade of Clonroadmore Wastewater Treatment Plant by An Bord Pleanála subject to conditions.
